Responsible AI Principles

Last updated: September 2025

Artificial intelligence (AI) has tremendous potential to amplify human creativity and enable us to do our best work. But it also has very dangerous implications if we don't use it responsibly.

I offer a set of generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs) in conjunction with some of Kemper Content's services. These AI tools are designed to help teams express their brand voice with consistency and confidence, while keeping human judgment at the center. These tools and any AI use are grounded in a few core principles:

  1. Honor the Critical Role of Human Creativity
AI should support, not replace, strategic thinking and creative expertise. Outputs are drafts to be refined by people.
  2. Prioritize Authenticity, Truth & Transparency
Content should reflect a brand's genuine values; input brand voice prompts that reflect mission, culture, and differentiators. Never blur the line between persuasion and manipulation; cite all claims and fact-check all sources. Choose your true self over chasing trends.
  3. Avoid Harmful Bias
Build in customization controls (banned words, tone settings, inclusivity checks, etc.) and review content to prevent hidden cultural, linguistic, or historical biases.
  4. Protect Data & Property
Don't sell, trade, or otherwise share what isn't yours to give. Don't use client/user data to train models without consent.*
  5. Commit to Continuous Improvement
Seek feedback. Stay accountable. Perform ongoing reviews of outputs and safeguards against evolving best practices in responsible AI.

*Kemper Content won't train on your data, but OpenAI might. See how to opt out.
